Hans Rotman, the director of IMPULS festival für neue Musik gave me the theme "Pandora's box" when he commissioned me a piece. What came to my mind immediately was the current situation surrounding us -  the pandemic. As I wish that there is still hope and pray for peace, music also ends with having hope.

The piece has two big sections: a chaotic section after opening the box and the later praying section. The chaotic section is a form of variations, but shortly, the later praying section is inserted as a cue.

I tried to explore the possibilities of mutes and breath tones, and mix those effects among different groups of instruments.
