Program Notes
If one could go back in time, would they make the same choices? This idea forms the structure of the piece.
For example, imagine someone travels from point A to point B. If they then return to the past and stand at point A again, they may appear to be in the same place at the same time. However, having already experienced reaching point B, they are no longer the same person they were on the first cycle. This time, instead of going to point B again, they choose to go to point C. In this way, the piece develops in a circular motion—passing through the same points but continuously changing and moving toward new destinations.
In terms of sound, the piece prominently features deep tones and percussive elements, both of which I am attracted to.
