When Livia mentioned the sea as a theme, I immediately thought of her home sea, the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean Sea, which has nurtured the growth of Arab, Greek, and Latin cultures, symbolizes an immense love for humanity. Inspired by this, I decided to let three distinct timbres coexist in this piece. These timbres—percussive sounds, breathing/speaking sounds, and the flute’s traditional tone—emerge and evolve throughout the composition.
